Route 4: Puerto de Tavascan (Pallars Sobirà) Cabanes d’Ossèse-Sort
The Vall de Cardós valley was one of the escape routes from the French department of Ariège through the mountain passes of Tavascan, Colax, Guiló, Lladore, Artiga and Boet. The route that runs through the pass of Marterat or Tavascan (2,217 m) was frequently used, as it was relatively easy and direct. Those travelling it would usually start in Aulus-les-Bains, and the final section of the itinerary began at the cabins of Ossèsse.
After crossing the pass, the trail led down to the lakes of Port and Xic, before reaching the Font de la Costa spring, which marked the beginning of the descent to the town of Tavascan.
Signposted points of interest: Font de la Costa (spring), Tavascan, Ribera de Cardós, Llavorsí and Sort.
