Route 5: Coll de Pimés (Alt Urgell)
Alt Urgell was the main means of access for the Jewish refugees who came over from the Principality of Andorra, primarily through the mountain paths that led to what is now the municipality of Valls de Valira. Andorra was one of the main points of entry for refugees who sought to reach Barcelona, either by crossing the Cadí Mountain Range or via La Seu d’Urgell. A number of highly efficient escape networks were operative there. Among the different itineraries used, signposting has been provided on the one that began in Rabassa and arrived in Bescaran, after passing through the Coll de Pimés pass and the cabins known as the “bordes de Pudovern”. This path then led to Estamariu, arriving in La Seu d’Urgell through its Sant Antoni District.
Signposted points of interest: Bescaran, Estamariu and La Seu d’Urgell.
