Route 6: Port de Perafita (Cerdanya)
Hundreds of Jews arrived clandestinely to Cerdanya from the Principality of Andorra, having crossed the mountain passes of Claror, Perafita, La Portella and Vallcivera. All hoped to reach Barcelona, by crossing the Serra del Cadí mountains, La Seu d’Urgell or the Llobregat river valley. Signposting has been provided on the itinerary that began in Escaldes Engordany (Andorra) and crossed the Coll de Perafita pass. Once in Catalonia, the trail descended to the small lakes known as Estanys de la Pera, subsequently reaching Aransa, Lles, Travesseres and Martinet. This was the shortest route between Andorra and Cerdanya, running through vast extensions of forest, which facilitated the clandestine passage of the refugees.
Signposted points of interest: Aransa, Lles and Martinet.
